In a future release, Genesys Cloud will introduce import and export capabilities for rules-based decision tables, allowing administrators and business analysts to create, update, and manage decision table rows in bulk using CSV files, without manually editing each row in the UI.

These capabilities give administrators greater control in three key areas:

  • Bulk updates – Import a CSV file to add, update, or replace multiple decision table rows at once, reducing manual effort and the risk of input errors in large rule sets.
  • Offline editing – Export a full decision table or a template export (schema only) to review, edit, or share rule logic outside the platform using familiar spreadsheet tools.
  • Governed changes – Imports create a new draft version of the decision table rather than applying changes directly to the published version, so administrators can review updates before publishing.

What’s changing

Administrators will be able to access import and export functions directly from within the rules-based decisions UI. When importing, administrators can choose to replace all existing rows or append new rows to a decision table. The system validates imported data before applying changes and surfaces errors in an import/export history page, which shows the status of jobs for the last seven calendar days. Export options include a full export of all rows or a template export that includes only the column structure, making it easier to prepare new import files.

Import and export jobs run asynchronously – administrators receive a notification when a job starts and can monitor progress from the history page. Access to import and export is controlled by separate permissions for each action and respects division boundaries.

Why this matters

Organizations managing large or complex rule sets often rely on spreadsheet-based workflows. Today, decision table updates require manual entry row by row in the UI, which increases effort and the risk of errors. This feature lets administrators work in the tools they already use, apply changes in bulk, and maintain governance through draft versioning and activity tracking.
